The littlest painter

Here it is...Emmett's first painting. I am a little embarrassed to say that this is his first time touching paint. I am sure the other boys were painting just out of the womb! Either way, he made this beautiful picture and it is already in a frame on the wall.

Cross Country

We went to Brixton's Cross Country meet this morning with a bunch of other fans. He got second place...we were so proud of him.

The boys came along as well and dug in the dirt...heaven.

Emmett got to hang out with his cousin. They spend most of the time eating snacks and drinking water.

Emmett's actual birthday

Sticky buns in the morning (leftovers from Caleb...is that not fair for the little buddy!?)

We have all enjoyed this little horse from Nana and Papa and check out his new outfit from the Rummelhoffs.

We celebrated by going to the pool. Emmett love the water so much.

Emmett wore his University of Chicago shirt to congratulate Auntie Brooke on passing her exam! We are so proud of you! Unfortunately this shirt was really hard to get over Emmett's head so this was the one and only time he will wear it!

Birthday boys!

Today was Caleb's 5th birthday. We celebrated him in the morning and at night we had Emmett's 1st birthday party (his birthday is on the 20th). It was a full day and there are many pictures that follow...sorry!

Charting our growth.

We were going to go mini golfing with the Johnson's but it was raining. Instead we had a playdate at their house and lunch at Caleb's favorite...Chipotle.

After nap time we headed over to a nearby park for Emmett's birthday bash! Gramma came early and was in charge of frosting all the cupcakes...even this huge one! Thanks!

All ready for his party to start. Yes, he does have a scrape on his nose. Yesterday when we were looking at the space he hurt himself with one of the shovels in the sandbox. Jackson also has a scrape on his nose..."I got a rug burn" is what he would tell you.

Here is the little building that we set the food up in and a few tables for people to eat at. We were so thankful that it never rained and people were able to use the whole park.

Happy Birthday Emmett!

Desserts

Here are the party favors. I found these huge pieces of chalk at Target and then I created these wraps to mimic crayola crayons.

He didn't get any on his shirt!

Still can't believe he is already 5. Where has the time gone?

Look at all those kids!

Auntie Brooke scored some pretty sweet McQueen stuff at a garage sale!

We had so much fun and are so blessed to have so many people that love our children. Happy Birthday Caleb and Emmett.

Dave Matthews Band

Erik and I were able to go to the DMB concert at Wrigley Field tonight. It was a great date night. Of course we enjoyed the music but it was also fun to people watch...a lot of interesting people at Dave Matthews concerts!

New teeth and walking

Emmett has his two bottom teeth and this one little fang already and now he is getting both front teeth at the same time. Needless to say, there have been a few tears and two nights with a 3am need for more tylenol.

Emmett is officially walking. I have been trying and trying to get a video of him. This is the best I can do. We are at Wagner Farm here.

Jackson's first day of preschool!

Special "ABC" pancakes made by daddy.

Wearing his new backpack from Nana and Papa.

I LOVE this one!

Today was Caleb's first day too. He is going to be so ready for Kindergarten.

Standing by his name tag.

Emmett thought he should be in their classes too. I was joking around with one girl in Caleb's class and said "do you think he should be in your class?" Her response was "No, he's annoying, and walks all around ruining our stuff." Oops!

After school we played and played outside. Emmett has been so much fun outside, just enjoying playing. We even ate lunch outside and Emmett sat on the bench with the big boys. Oh yeah, and I switched him to a sippy cup and also started giving him whole milk. He hasn't spit up yet or had any other reactions! For a while I was nervous the spitting up had to do with a dairy allergy but it doesn't seem like it anymore! He is growing up so fast.

Sunday

Emmett sported his Bears shirt today to cheer them to victory! (This was Erik's shirt when he was a little guy!!)

We had our first night of High League tonight. It was a full house and so much fun. I am so thankful that it works out for me to spend this time with them every Sunday night. I think the Youth Pastor is pretty awesome too!
