Chicago Couple Makes Medical Breakthrough

If you didn't know it already, Caleb has become a die-hard thumb-sucker. Not only does this wonderful habit make him more prone to sickness, when combined with Chicago's cold and dry winter, it has awful effects on Caleb's skin. Recently, his poor little digit even developed a painful crack all the way across the width of the thumb! We tried numerous options: bandaids last about 30 seconds and any ointment would get sucked off instantaneously...so, we did lots of medical research, consulted numerous M.D.'s, and finally decided to go with the super high-tech "sock treatment." Frustration set in quickly, but it wasn't long before Caleb was back to normal, acting as if the sock wasn't even there. I guess we're really learning these days just how resilient and quick-healing our little guy can be! The thumb is looking better, and I've been asked to write an feature article in the New England Journal of Medicine. On a lighter note, Caleb has taken to a few chores around the house. His favorite: dusting the floors with the foofy-duster. Of course after finishing this particular round, he proceeded to smile proudly and shove the dirty end right into his mouth. We're so very proud.
