Caleb is now learning how to stand on his own. Here is a progression of pictures going from squatting to standing and standing and standing some more! It is so much fun to see him pull up on a piece of furniture and then just let go. Will we always be this proud of him? His other new thing is to crawl around with something hanging out of his mouth. Today it was a bird...I sorta felt like he was a dog with his lunch!

100% BOY
Tonight after dinner, I took Caleb outside to play. He made his way to this muddy spot and I just decided to let him enjoy the mud! He was so filthy, but so happy.
We borrowed this "walker" from some friends of ours and within a few hours Caleb had figured out how to walk behind it! This is now his favorite thing to do. We walk up and down the hallway and up and down the blacktop. Click on this link to see a video of him walking with the hippo.

Caleb is 9 months old
I forgot how much I loved this picture of Caleb. Erik was looking through recent pictures and came across this one. I guess I had forgotten about it. It was taken a few weeks ago now. Caleb is growing up so quickly and learning so many new things. On our drive back from camp I was singing "Pat-A-Cake" to him and doing the motions with him. Now when we sing that song to him he tries to "roll it and pat it" with his hands. So cute.
I added this other picture from when Caleb was a month old. It is just so crazy to me how different he looks. Is that even the same baby? His hair color has changed so much. We go to the doctor on Friday so we will find out just how big he is.
Our car has been in the shop for over a week now, so we have resorted to public transportation, our bikes and borrowing getting ride from Uncle Dave! Anyway, yesterday I had to take Caleb to get some blood work done, so we took the bus there. (Caleb's first time on the CTA.) I think he enjoyed himself. But the sad thing was that when they pricked him they did not find the vein, so the technician was digging all around trying to get a vein. He finally took it out and then had to prick him in the other arm. Caleb was such a trooper, he cried, but not too bad. My poor little patient, I hope he doesn't end up having as much trouble giving blood as me.

Kevin and Linnea's Wedding
This is Linnea's immediate family...so cute.
This is her dog, Eli.
Jeff, Scott and Hannah all helping Caleb eat ice cream for dessert.
The food at the wedding was "make your own" shish-ka-bobs. This is our table loading up our grill!
We were so hot after the wedding we did a dip in the lake!

Rocks and Poop
I would have never guessed Caleb would enjoy crawling around in the rocks so much! Although, every once in a while he would try to shove one in his mouth just to make sure they weren't tasty. (He's getting better about not automatically putting everything straight into the mouth). Believe it or not, that's bird poop on his arm! Good aim, huh?! Caleb looks disgusted, too.

Caleb's First Trip to the Island
We're back! Our trip to Covenant Point went well. Erik was the speaker of the week for staff training and Caleb and I got to tag along! Our friends Kevin and Linnea also happened to be getting married at the camp on Saturday.
So we took Caleb on a pontoon ride out to the Island. He hated the life jacket - it was cramping his "style" a bit, but once we were moving he actually began to enjoy himself. Once there, we ate dinner with all the staff who couldn't get enough of our little "islander."
