So Big!

Caleb and I went for a walk this afternoon. The sun was shining right onto his little head so I had him wear this hat. This was his first time wearing a baseball hat and I could not get over how big he looked! And there he is showing you just how big he is. He does "so big" every once in a while...but not on command. He only does it when he wants to.

Here's a funny story about our walk:

We walked to the fruit market and when we got there I realized his little grey jacket was missing. I knew it had probably fallen out of the stroller and someone had picked it up. I was so frustrated. As we were walking back I made sure to keep my eyes peeled for the jacket just in case. Then all of a sudden I spotted it. (Keep in mind that we walked about a half mile and crossed only a few streets to get to the fruit market.) But there, in the middle of the side street all dirty and as flat as a pancake was Caleb's jacket. I felt stupid picking it up, but I went quickly and stuffed it back into the stroller. We continued on our trek back home. Then, after crossing Kedzie, I looked down and it was missing again! There it sat on the other side of Kedzie. At this point I'm thinking, "Do I just forget about the jacket? Maybe I'm not supposed to have this jacket!" Well, there was this old lady crossing the street, she realized I had dropped something and said she could bring it to me. I said thank you and tried to explain that I had already dropped it once and she said "I think it needs to be laundered."

Courtney makes the Channel 9 News!

Courtney had her big TV debut last night on the WGN news at 9pm. The doctor that did my surgery was being interviewed because this type of surgery is pretty new. Actually, I think it has been around for a while (I had my surgery 8 years ago!) but not many doctors do it. Anyway, he called me to see if I could come in to be the "patient" for the interview. Needless to say, I went in and if you click on this link you can watch the little segment that aired last night. Click on the Medical Watch Video entitled "ACL Repair".

Botanic Gardens

It was another gorgeous day in Chicago so we decided to go to the Botanic Gardens. The flowers were beautiful. We also tried out our backpack for the first time...Caleb seems to like it! Oh yeah, did you know Caleb is a thumb sucker? Yup, just like his mommy was.

Camouflage

Look at how cute these camouflage shorts are (thanks Auntie Erin!). Here is a picture of Caleb "cruising" and one of him and "Uncle" Scott matching.

7 months

Caleb turned 7 months old today...very hard to believe. He is so much fun. He is so full of energy and smiles. He is getting much better at eating (In this picture he is eating one of those Gerber cookie things...really messy...thus, the bath!) This week he started "cruising". He pulls himself up on the coffee table and then "walks" along it. I think he is very anxious to start walking.

Caleb's First Easter

Caleb enjoyed his very first Easter. Here is the most recent family portrait, Caleb playing with a new rattle and Caleb sucking on the table. Look at how huge and long his ear looks because of the reflection!

Today was the first day Caleb wore shorts. As you can see he was very excited about it! He was also very excited when Unlce Kyle came home from camp. Here we are enjoying our very large back yard. Caleb likes the grass, but mostly just wants to eat it.

COUSINS

Erik, Caleb, Brooke and I went to New Hampshire for the weekend to visit Jim, Erin, Kira and Jenna in their new home. Jim recently took a new position at Pilgrim Pines. These first couple pictures are of Jenna and Caleb. They are easily mistaken for twins when we are all out together. Jenna and Caleb are almost the same size...Erin thinks Caleb is bigger! They had a great time playing together. Jenna was little possesive of her toys, as soon as Caleb would pick up a toy she headed right over to take it away from him! Caleb would just go find another one and then Jenna would come back to take it away, it was pretty funny to watch.

This is Caleb enjoying all the solid food that Auntie Erin would give him. Here, he is eating these little fruit bites. He is not so good at getting them into his mouth yet. They are really sticky and get stuck in random places and then he can't find it. Erin and I were laughing so hard when we looked at him and this little apple was stuck under his nose. He started laughing too.

Portraits

Erik was out of town this weekend so I thought it would be fun to surprise him with some professional pictures of Caleb. We (my mom came with) went to "The Picture People" because you get your pictures in one hour and you don't have to buy the pictures if you don't like them. When we got there Caleb was so smiley and happy. As soon as we put him down to take the pictures, he was a wreck. He would not sit still, would not look at me or the camera and then he just started to cry. By this time, his cheeks were all red and his eyes were watery. Needless to say, we didn't leave with any pictures! However, the next day I decided to take pictures of Caleb at the park behind our apartment. I think this one turned out pretty cute! The moral of the story is...who needs a professional!

6 months

Caleb turned 6 months old today! He loves chewing on this book, a hand-made gift from Caleb's second cousin, Skylar Rill. Yesterday he had a 6 month check-up. He weighed in at 16 pounds 10 ounces, and is 26 inches long. He had to get 2 more shots which was way more managable than his usual 4! Still, he sure didn't like being there. As soon as we entered the exam room, Caleb knew something was up, and let us all know he was quite unhappy about what was about to take place!

During nap time Erik kept finding Caleb sitting up in the corner trying to pull himself up on the bars. We decided it was time to lower his mattress...it was a sad day. He is growing up way too quickly for us!

First Food

We gave Caleb a little rice cereal on Wednesday morning and every morning since. At first he just sorta pushed it back out with his tongue, but now he is getting the hang of it.

Mommy and Me

Here is the most recent picture of Caleb and his mommy. We seriously cannot get enough of this little man! He is so much fun, always smiling and laughing.

We had a busy weekend that included spending some time with Luke and Reiley Austin(Karina and Jason were there too!). Luke is two days older than Caleb and Reiley will be two in a few weeks. It was so much fun to see Caleb interact with them, he just thought they were hilarious. Reiley had both boys cracking up at one point.

CRAWLING?!

We were very excited about Caleb getting himself into the sitting position...but the next day he figured out how to crawl. So he isn't cruising around the house yet, but he is using his arms and legs to get him from one point to another. We are not ready for our baby to be crawling! It is pretty fun to watch him and he is so proud of himself. I wish I knew how to put videos on here...you'll just have to come and visit.

There is no picture for this post, but I just had to let everyone know our latest story...

So, Erik, Caleb and I went out for lunch today. Caleb fell asleep while we were there. We were hoping to transfer the sleeping baby into his crib at home...no such luck...but we left him in there anyway hoping he would fall back asleep. I could hear him making noises and squirming around, so Iwent to watch him from the door. I could see that he had moved himself all the way to the other end of the bed and that he was playing with his musical elephant (a gift from Barbara and Nathan!). He was also pulling on the bumper and trying so hard to crawl or stand or something. I went to get Erik so he could see all that Caleb was doing and in that time...Caleb got himself into the sitting position! We could not believe it. He was laying on his tummy or his back and then all of a sudden sitting up in his crib!

5 Months Old!

Our happy little boy turned 5 months old on Saturday...here are a few pictures of him on that day.

Are those eyebrows red?

Unlce Dave thinks that Caleb's eyebrows and hair look a little red in this picture...what do you think? Could our dark haired boy really have red hair?

Door County

We spent the weekend in Door County (actually 2 weeks ago now) with our friends from our Bible Study at North Park. It was so nice to get away and be with friends.
